We are a small, family software engineering shop nestled in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains. Founded by Christopher and Antonia Bradford, our mission is simple: create solutions to real problems and make life easier.

At ChoiceEngine, we believe that making decisions together shouldn't be complicated. That's why we've created a platform that simplifies collaborative decision-making, eliminating the endless back-and-forth of emails, texts, and group chats.

Our journey began when we noticed how much time was wasted trying to coordinate simple group decisions. Whether it was planning a family gathering, choosing a meeting time with colleagues, or deciding on a restaurant with friends, the process was always more complicated than it needed to be.

What is ChoiceEngine?

ChoiceEngine is a collaborative decision-making platform that helps groups make choices together more efficiently. Instead of endless back-and-forth in emails or chat apps, ChoiceEngine provides a structured way to present options, collect votes, and determine the best choice based on group input.

How do I create my first decision?

  1. Sign up for a ChoiceEngine account
  2. Click on "My Decisions" in the navigation menu
  3. Click the "Create Decision" button
  4. Fill out the decision form with your question, options, and invited participants
  5. Click "Create Decision" to finalize

Once created, you'll receive a link you can share with participants.

Do participants need to create an account?

No, participants don't need to create an account to vote. When you invite someone via email, they receive a special link that allows them to vote as a guest. However, creating an account offers additional benefits like tracking all decisions they've participated in and creating their own decisions.

Using ChoiceEngine

What types of voting can I use?

ChoiceEngine offers three voting types:

  • Single Choice (Basic): Each participant selects one option
  • Multiple Choice (Premium): Participants can select multiple options
  • Ranked Choice (Premium): Participants rank options in order of preference

Premium and Team accounts have access to all voting types, while Free accounts can use Single Choice voting.

How do I use the AI suggestion feature?

Our AI-powered suggestion feature helps you generate creative options for your decision:

  1. When creating a decision, add a detailed description of what you're deciding
  2. Click the magic wand icon () next to any option field
  3. The AI will generate a contextually relevant suggestion based on your decision description
  4. You can accept the suggestion or generate another one

This feature is especially helpful when you're not sure what options to include or want to explore more possibilities.

Can I edit a decision after creating it?

Yes, as the decision creator, you can edit various aspects of your decision after creating it:

  • Update the title and description
  • Add, edit, or remove options
  • Invite additional participants
  • Change or extend the deadline

To edit a decision, go to "My Decisions," find the decision you want to modify, and click the edit button (pencil icon).

What makes a good decision description?

A good decision description:

  • Clearly states the problem or question being addressed
  • Provides relevant context and background information
  • Explains any constraints or requirements
  • Sets expectations about when and how the final decision will be made

Example: "We need to select a venue for our company retreat in September. The venue should accommodate 50 people, be within 2 hours of our office, and have both indoor and outdoor spaces. Budget is $10,000 maximum. We'll finalize the decision by July 15th."

When should I use ranked choice voting?

Ranked choice voting is ideal for:

  • Decisions with many viable options where consensus is important
  • Situations where participants have varying degrees of preference
  • Avoiding "split vote" problems where similar options divide support
  • Finding the option with the broadest acceptable support

Examples include selecting a date for an event, choosing a project to prioritize, or deciding on a location when there are multiple good options.

How can I increase participation in my decisions?

To maximize participation:

  • Set a clear deadline that gives people enough time to respond
  • Send a follow-up reminder a few days before the deadline
  • Keep the decision focused and not too complex
  • Explain why participants' input matters
  • Use the discussion board to address questions
  • Share the results with everyone after the decision closes

How do I upgrade my account?

To upgrade your account:

  1. Click on your membership badge in the top navigation bar
  2. Select the membership level you want to upgrade to
  3. Complete the checkout process through our secure payment system
  4. Your account will be upgraded immediately after payment

You can also upgrade from the Pricing page by selecting your desired plan and clicking "Upgrade Now."

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. To cancel:

  1. Send an email to choiceengine@robotbirdservices.com
  2. Include your account email address in the message
  3. Use the subject line "Cancel Subscription"

We'll process your cancellation request within 1-2 business days and send you a confirmation email. Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the Free tier, but you'll retain access to all your existing decisions.
